The Grange Trekking Centre is blessed by being amongst the beautiful Black Mountains, in the north east of the park. Placed on the boundary of the counties of Powys and Gwent, it is relatively easy and quick to access from south/mid England and Wales.
The top Welsh location for outdoor pursuits in great mountainous countryside is here,
on the borders of England and Wales, within the Brecon Beacons National Park and a UK recognised Dark Sky Zone.
Get in touch to book a stay at our bed and breakfast or star gaze from our glamping pods.
WHERE ARE WE SITUATED?
Grange Trekking is situated in the Historic Vale of Ewyas between Hay-on-Wye/"the Town of Books", and Abergavenny/"Gateway to Wales". The centre is to be found in the small hamlet of Capel-y-ffin, in a fork of the valley, which is surrounded on three sides by lofty mountain ridges.
Public transport is available to Hay-on wye (7 miles north of us) or Abergavenny (14 miles south of us). There is a bus and train station at Abergavenny, and also in Hereford. Taxi services are available from the local towns, which we are happy to arrange.
GETTING HERE BY CAR
If you are travelling by car, please take care as the roads from the local towns are mostly single track, with few passing places, but they do have tremendous views!
We would suggest, when using a sat-nav, to only put Capel-y-ffin and the postcode NP7 7NP, use it until you get to Capel-y-ffin and then follow the signs for “Grange Pony Trekking and Accommodation Trekking” (please do not put ‘The Grange’ or ‘Abergavenny’ into your sat-nav as this will mislead you).
